Providence Christian Church adheres to the biblical model of a plurality of male elders. The church belongs to Christ, and the elders are His under-shepherds, responsible to God for the direction, care, and growth of the families over whom God has placed them, especially through teaching God’s Word. The term “elder” is synonymous with the terms “pastor,” “teacher,” and “overseer.” “Elder” refers to the office. “Pastor” refers to the function. “Teacher” refers to the emphasis, and “overseer” refers to authority. While some churches have elders who function as administrators and pastors who function as ministers, every elder at PCC is a pastor, teacher, and overseer. No elder at PCC has more formal authority than the other elders, and each elder serves the body according to his particular, God-given gifts.
DENNIS HAROLDSON Dennis is a founding elder at Providence, having helped to plant the church in 2011 after seeing a need for a Reformed Baptist church in the Albuquerque metro area. Before moving to Albuquerque, he served an elder for 11 years at Hope Reformed Evangelical Church in Aztec, NM. He and his wife, Tracy, have been married for 37 years and have one son, five daughters, five sons-in-law, one daughter-in-law, and thirteen grandchildren. TODD SLEDGE Todd joined PCC’s elder team in 2021 and has a passion for teaching and applying God’s Word. Driving all the way from Mountainair, NM, with his family to be a part of PCC since 2013, Todd is a realtor and oversees Eagles Wings Youth Ranch, a youth summer camp dedicated to meeting the spiritual, educational, and social needs of at-risk youth in New Mexico.
